Who Can Appear for JEE Advanced 2027?

Essential Conditions

To be eligible for JEE Advanced 2027, candidates must satisfy ALL of the following conditions:

1. Performance in JEE Main 2027

  • Candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 rank holders in JEE Main 2027 Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech), across all categories.
  • The category-wise cutoff for qualifying JEE Advanced is determined by the conducting IIT and is announced along with the JEE Main result.

2. Age Limit

  • General, EWS, and OBC-NCL Candidates: Must be born on or after October 1, 2002.
  • SC, ST, and PwD Candidates: Must be born on or after October 1, 1997 (5-year relaxation).
  • The date of birth mentioned in the JEE Main 2027 application form will be considered final.

3. Number of Attempts

  • Candidates can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times, and that too in two consecutive years.
  • For JEE Advanced 2027, candidates must have first appeared for Class 12 (or equivalent) examination in 2026 or 2027.
  • Candidates who appeared for Class 12 in 2025 or earlier are NOT eligible for JEE Advanced 2027.

4. Class 12 (or Equivalent) Examination

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) examination in 2026 or 2027, or be appearing in 2027.
  • Candidates who passed Class 12 before 2026 are NOT eligible for JEE Advanced 2027.

5. Previous IIT Admission

  • Candidates who have been admitted to an IIT in the past (regardless of whether they continued or withdrew) are NOT eligible for JEE Advanced 2027.
  • Candidates who were admitted to an IIT but did not report to the institute or withdrew before the deadline are also NOT eligible.
  • Exception: Candidates who were admitted to a preparatory course at an IIT in 2026 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2027.

6. JEE (Advanced) 2026 Appearance

  • Candidates who appeared for JEE Advanced 2026 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2027 (this would be their second and final attempt).
